Our digital files have such a short lifespan. Some of us are one corrupted hard drive or dropped phone away from losing valuable files and memories.

Christopher Bentley is a digital artist based in Ipswich, Queensland exploring thirty years of digital art tools.

By using both old and new technology, such as vintage video game systems and decades-old software, Christopher creates contrasts between old and new digital artworks. This allows him to share an appreciation for the inherit limitations of technology but also address how digital work is perceived and how its value has changed over decades.

Christopher’s work also highlights the threat of digital obsolescence and constant challenges around digital preservation.
